Director of “Kong: Skull Island” named Viet Nam’s Tourism Ambassador

The Director of “Kong: Skull Island” Jordan Vogt-Roberts was officially appointed Viet Nam’s Tourism Ambassador for 2017-2020 by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the ceremony on 13 March 2017.

 At the ceremony, Mr. Jordan Vogt-Roberts appreciated highly of the hospitality of the Vietnamese people and the beauty of tourist spots in Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh and Quang Binh which were Kong: Skull Island’s filming locations.

He expressed his honor to be Viet Nam’s Tourism Ambassador. In the coming time, he will try to promote Viet Nam’s tourism to international friends as well as Hollywood film producers and directors.

Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien informed that in 2016, Viet Nam’s tourism welcomed over 10 million international tourist arrivals, of which US tourist arrivals reached 553,000, increasing by 13% over 2015. In the first 2 months of 2017, Viet Nam attracted over 2.2 million international tourist arrivals, increasing by 33% over the same period last year.

He believed that the launch of “Kong: Skull island” will give a leverage for the development of Vietnamese film and tourism industries and attract more international tourists to visit Viet Nam, including US citizens. In the coming time, the Ministry will closely collaborate with the Tourism Ambassador to promote Viet Nam’s tourism internationally.
